 THEME: BREAKING GENERATIONAL CURSES

INTRODUCTION:

Generational curses are recurring problems or patterns that seem to pass from one generation to another — including poverty, sickness, barrenness, marital failure, addiction, and even premature death. These are often rooted in past sins, covenants, idol worship, and disobedience.

But the good news is this: Jesus came to break every curse! Through the power of His blood, we are no longer bound by the chains of our ancestors. The Bible says in Galatians 3:13 (KJV): “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us…”

Today, through repentance, faith, and warfare prayers, you shall be set free permanently in Jesus’ name!

SHORT SERMON: “BREAKING GENERATIONAL CURSES”

Text: Exodus 20:5-6, Galatians 3:13-14

1. What is a Generational Curse?
A generational curse is a consequence or punishment that follows family lines due to sins, iniquities, and demonic covenants of the past.

2. Biblical Examples:

  • The curse on Cain (Genesis 4:11–12)
  • The generational pattern of lying in Abraham’s family (Genesis 12:13; 26:7; 27:19)
  • The curse of Gehazi’s leprosy passed to his descendants (2 Kings 5:27)

3. How Are Curses Passed On?

  • Through ancestral worship and idol covenants (Deuteronomy 5:9)
  • Through sinful behaviors and practices (Proverbs 26:2)
  • Through spoken words, oaths, and occultic activities

4. How to Break Generational Curses:

  • Repentance – Confess personal and ancestral sins (Leviticus 26:40)
  • Renunciation – Verbally renounce evil covenants and declarations
  • Redemption – Stand on the victory of Christ’s blood (Revelation 12:11)
  • Resistance – Use aggressive spiritual warfare prayers (2 Corinthians 10:4)

Declaration:

“By the blood of Jesus, I break every evil inheritance and walk into my divine liberty!”
