THE VIRTUE OF PUNCTUALITY

SERMON OUTLINE

Texts: Ecclesiastes 3:1 – “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”
Ephesians 5:15–16 – “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”

🔹 INTRODUCTION

Beloved, time is one of the most precious gifts God has given man. Everyone receives the same 24 hours in a day, but how you use it determines your success, your destiny, and even your spiritual standing.

Punctuality is not just about arriving early; it is about honoring God, honoring people, and honoring purpose. A punctual man is a man of discipline, wisdom, and honor. A late man is a man who loses opportunities, respect, and divine moments.

🔹 WHY PUNCTUALITY IS A VIRTUE

  1. Punctuality Honors God

    • Proverbs 8:17: “I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.”
    • When you rise early to pray, worship, and serve, you show God that He comes first.
  2. Punctuality Opens Doors of Opportunity

    • Joseph stood before Pharaoh at the right time (Genesis 41:14–16). If he had delayed, another might have taken his place.
    • David arrived on time at the battlefield (1 Samuel 17:20–23). If he had delayed, he would have missed Goliath and his promotion.
  3. Punctuality Shows Discipline and Integrity

    • Luke 16:10: “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much.”
    • If you cannot keep time, how can God trust you with greater assignments?
  4. Punctuality Brings Respect and Honor

    • Kings and leaders value those who respect time. Proverbs 22:29 says: “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”

🔹 BIBLICAL EXAMPLES

✔️ Honourable Examples of Punctuality

  • Abraham – Rose early in the morning to obey God’s instruction (Genesis 22:3).
  • Joshua – Rose early to lead Israel into the Promised Land (Joshua 3:1).
  • Jesus – Rose early to pray (Mark 1:35).

❌ Dishonourable Examples of Delay

  • Lot’s sons-in-law – Delayed and perished in Sodom (Genesis 19:14–16).
  • The Foolish Virgins – Came late and missed the Bridegroom (Matthew 25:10–12).
  • King Saul – Delayed obedience and lost his throne (1 Samuel 15:22–23).

🔹 MOTIVATION & INSPIRATION

  • Punctuality positions you for blessings others miss.
  • Punctuality is the habit of champions, leaders, and those God lifts.
  • Punctuality is a silent preacher of your commitment, seriousness, and respect for others.

Beloved, when you honor time, you honor God—and when you honor God, He will honor you! (1 Samuel 2:30).

🔹 CORRECTION (CALL TO REPENTANCE)

But let me correct us: lateness has robbed many destinies.

  • Some missed jobs because they came late.
  • Some missed divine appointments because they delayed.
  • Some will miss heaven if they delay in repentance.

Beloved, don’t procrastinate. Don’t say, “I will give my life to Christ tomorrow.” The Bible says, “Now is the accepted time; today is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2).

🔹 CALL TO SALVATION (CRUSADE APPEAL)

Friend, if you are not born again, you are already late in the journey of destiny. Do not be like the foolish virgins who went out too late to buy oil.

Jesus is calling you now. He says in Revelation 3:20:
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him."

Today is the right time. Don’t be late to salvation!

🔹 PROPHETIC DECLARATION & PRAYER

  1. Every spirit of delay in your life is broken in Jesus’ name!
  2. May you never miss your divine appointment.
  3. May God give you grace to honor time and honor destiny.
  4. From today, you shall be punctual in prayer, work, service, and in your walk with God.

👉 Lift your voice and say:
"Lord Jesus, I repent from every spirit of lateness and delay. I surrender my life to You. Make me a man/woman of punctuality, discipline, and honor. From today, I will redeem the time and live for You. Amen!"

Beloved, the time is now. Don’t delay your salvation, don’t delay your obedience, don’t delay your purpose. The virtue of punctuality will position you for honor and eternal reward.
